Waitin’ on a Train brings its energetic live show to Dogfish Head in Rehoboth Beach on Saturday April 19. Steeped in sweet bluegrass harmonies and traditional country, the band has a spirited approach to live shows. Guitar and mandolin provide the base for the finely crafted tunes from the York, Pa. trio.
The band released its debut CD, “In the Path of Pain,” in January, shortly after the death of band mate Adam Sullivan, who fell to his death from a scenic overlook along the Susquehanna River. Sullivan joined Tony Staub (mandolin) and Paul Wykowski (guitar) soon after the band was formed in 2004.
The group began touring on the lively local scene and, before long, started churning out its own original materials.
Waitin’ on a Train’s style evolved from its traditional country roots, offering its fans a dash of punk rock style and rough edges. “In the Path of Pain” is a showcase of the band’s live material - including nine originals - and a cover of Canned Heat’s “Time Was” thrown in for kicks.
The loss of Sullivan has had a profound impact on the band, which continues an aggressive touring schedule. Adam’s friend, Bert Streavig, AKA Johnny Hang, has taken his place and the band continues to blaze its own path.

This world has lost a solid person. Adam Sullivan left this world early Saturday morning November 11, 2006. He was a good friend, a wonderful musician and a truly good human being.
We are sad he is gone. We are grateful to have known him.
